The FBI quickly found the stolen bakery van. But they found neither the man nor the money from the July 5 armed robbery of a West Miami-Dade TD Bank.

So, now they’re offering money for help finding the robber they’ve nicknamed “Trigger Happy Bandit.”

A reward up to $15,000 is being offered for information helping them capture and convict the criminal who hit the TD Bank at 7400 SW 40th St. around 11:15 a.m. on July 5. What differentiates this criminal from the common modern bank robber, who usually uses a note and maybe the threat of a weapon, was that this robber accompanied his cash demand by firing a gun several times in a populated bank.

No customers or employees got shot before the robber escaped with the bread in a van used to deliver bread. The van belonged to Zak the Baker, Zak Stern’s Wynwood kosher bakery and deli. One of Stern’s deliverymen made a drop at a Coconut Grove restaurant that morning and emerged to find the truck missing.

The van was found at 6300 Manor Drive in South Miami.

Anyone with information on this crime can call the FBI at 754-703-2000 or Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
