Miami Gardens police have made two arrests after a social media transaction led to two people being robbed and shot last month.

Police arrested Jahni Smith, 17, and Joshua Johnson, 18, and charged them with attempted second-degree murder and armed robbery with a firearm. Smith was arrested May 30 and Johnson later that week on June 3.

The robbery happened at about 1:30 p.m. on May 12 when police responded to Scott Park, 17710 NW 15th Ct., and found the victims, Jerry Jean and Frederick Barrett, with several gunshot wounds. Police said the men agreed to meet Smith and Johnson at the park via an undetermined social media site to make a purchase.

When Jean and Barrett approached to exchange their money for the unidentified item, the two alleged shooters pulled out guns, robbed the victims and shot them.

Jean was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital and Barrett was taken to Aventura Hospital by rescue workers. They both survived their injuries.
