The incident happened at 3425 Collins Avenue. The Art Deco building, formerly known as the Versailles Hotel, was unoccupied and under construction.
Traffic was diverted from Collins Avenue in both directions for a few hours.
On Friday morning, a construction inspector plummeted to his death from the Palmetto Expressway at an overpass near Northwest South River Drive, Florida Highway Patrol reports.
These two incidents just add to the number of fatal accidents involving heights.
Last month, three men died while working on a TV transmission tower for Channels 7 and 10 in Miami Gardens when the scaffolding used to reach the top of the edifice collapsed. The men were at the top of the nearly 1,000 -foot tower.
In March, a man working on the seventh floor at L´Excellence, a Miami Beach condo under construction, fell off the scaffolding and suffered critical injuries.
