Is Publix open? What about CVS? Or malls? Garbage pickup? Miami metro Thanksgiving hours

By name, Thanksgiving Day is about gratitude. By action, it’s often about prepared consumption of food, the company of friends and family. “Prepared” because only Christmas Day closes more stores and services than Thanksgiving.

Here’s the situation in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area for many of those stores and services.

Supermarkets

Publix: Stores are closed Thanksgiving Day.

Winn-Dixie: Stores are closed Thanksgiving Day.

Sedano’s: Regular hours on Wednesday, closing at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.

Presidente: Open regular hours.

Bravo Supermarkets: Open, but check your favorite location for hours.

Price Choice Markets: Open, but check your favorite location for hours.

Milam’s Market: Open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.

Aldi: Stores are closed Thanksgiving Day.

The Fresh Market: Open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Whole Foods Market: Open 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Trader Joe’s: Closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Walmart Neighborhood Market: Closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Walmart: Closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Costco: Closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Target: Closed on Thanksgiving Day.

BJ’s Wholesale Club: Closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Pharmacy chains

Walgreens: The 24-hour Walgreens locations will remain open. The others will be closed Thanksgiving Day and reopen at their regular time on Friday.

CVS/Navarro: CVS and Navarro stores will be open. Pharmacy hours will be shortened at the CVS stores and 24-hour Navarro stores. The other Navarro pharmacies will be closed.

Shopping malls

Aventura Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day.

Brickell City Centre: Closed Thanksgiving Day.

Broward Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day.

Coral Square Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day.

Dadeland Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day.

Dolphin Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day.

The Falls: Closed Thanksgiving Day.

Florida Keys Outlet Marketplace: Closed Thanksgiving Day.

Shops at Merrick Park: Closed Thanksgiving Day.

Westland Mall: Closed Thanksgiving Day.

Mass Transit

Miami-Dade: Metrobus, Metrorail, Metromover and MetroConnect will work on a Sunday schedule. MetroLink will not be in service.

Broward: Broward County Transit will run on a Sunday/holiday schedule, but there will be no Breeze or Express services. Trip-planning help is available by calling 954-357-8400 (TTY 954-357-8302) until 8 p.m. The main terminal in downtown Fort Lauderdale and the Lauderhill Transit Center will be staffed from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Tri-Rail: Tri-Rail will run on its weekend/holiday schedule.

Garbage

Miami-Dade: Regular garbage and recycling collection.

Get your cans out. Your garbage will be picked up as scheduled Thanksgiving Day if Miami-Dade Solid Waste Management or the City of Miami does your hauling.

Miami: Regular garbage and recycling collection.

Broward: No service for those who get garbage pickup from the county.

Fort Lauderdale: Regular collection services.

All others, check with your waste collector or municipality.

U.S. mail

No mail delivery aside from Priority Mail Express. Branches will be closed.

Government offices, courts, schools, libraries

Miami-Dade: Closed.

Broward: Closed.

Municipalities: Closed.
