Police searches were ongoing Saturday to find who pulled the trigger in separate shootings that killed a man in Wynwood early Saturday morning and another in Coral Gables later in the day.

The Wynwood shooting occurred shortly after 1 a.m. at 51 NW 26th St.

According to Miami detectives, a man and woman who appeared to be a couple were walking to their car from a nearby nightclub, when they were confronted by a male who pointed a gun at them. Police said words apparently were exchanged before the male victim was shot.

The victim was identified as 41-year-old Thomas Quass. He was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital but died shortly after arrival.

Police said the gunman is a male, approximately 5-feet-10 and weighing approximately 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black and gray shirt, black pants and a black hat.

He fled by jumping into the passenger side of an awaiting gray two-door 2013 to 2015 Hyndai Velostor. Police did not have a description for the driver of the getaway vehicle.

Police said the motive is unclear and the investigation continues.

About 12 hours later, an unidentified male, believed to be in his mid 20s, died a short time after being shot on the 1000 block of Salzedo Street in Coral Gables.

Coral Gables police say the victim was transported to Ryder Trauma, where he died.

Witnesses told police that two black male subjects, between 5-foot-9 and 6-feet were observed running westbound towards LeJuene Road. Both were wearing a backpack.

Police established a perimeter Saturday afternoon and were searching for the shooter or shooters.
