Man dies in motorcycle crash near Little Torch Key

A man on a Suzuki motorcycle died after he lost control of his bike and crashed into a utility pole near Little Torch Key early Monday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Timothy Vangessel, 37, of Little Torch Key was riding his motorcycle at about 1:30 a.m. Monday on State Road 4A, just west of US-1 at Mile Marker 28 when he crashed.

Vangessel flew off his bike and landed in the street. He died at the scene.

Monday’s crash follows a series of deadly motorcycles crashes in South Florida.

Cesar Uribe died Sunday morning when his motorcycle hit another car near 900 South U.S. 27 in Pembroke Pines.

Another motorcyclist died earlier this month in a crash northbound on Florida’s Turnpike at Kendall Drive. Last month, a motorcyclist died after failing to stop at an intersection and crashing into an SUV in Oakland Park.
