The Miami Herald is retracting a story published on online on June 23 concerning the pilot involved in a helicopter crash at North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines.

The story reported that the pilot in the June 13 crash, identified in the crash report and other public records as Marcelo Andrade of Sky Helicopter Tour, did not show up in FAA records as having a certificate to pilot a helicopter or work as a mechanic. In fact, Andrade was in the FAA database listed under his full name, Marcelo Lopes De Andrade. Those records show that he has FAA pilot and mechanic licenses.

The story also reported that the company had removed information from its website following the crash, but the reporting did not support that assertion.

The Miami Herald regrets the errors.
