Fort Lauderdale man faces attempted murder charge after shooting, police say

A Fort Lauderdale man is facing an attempted premeditated murder charge in connection with a Sunday afternoon shooting, according to police.
James Jason Ramkissoon, 39, was arrested Sunday for allegedly shooting a woman shortly after 3:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of 62nd Street, according to Fort Lauderdale Police Department Sgt. David Soika.
Officers found the injured woman and took her to Broward Health Medical Center with a trauma alert, police said. Ramkissoon left before police arrived, Soika said. Police later tracked him down.

Soika did not identify the woman.
“We have no patient update, and the incident is still under investigation,” he said.
Ramkissoon is being held at the Broward County Main Jail without bond, according to arrest records.
