Fire rescue took Cassano’s mother and the deputy to a nearby hospital. Neither was injured by gunfire, officials say.

The deputy who fired his weapon was placed on administrative assignment pending further investigation, according to BSO. Florida Department of Law Enforcement is probing the shooting, as per protocol. BSO did not identify the deputy.
