An entire section of Interstate 95 in Broward will close Tuesday night, causing detours for overnight drivers.

The night-long closure is part of a $153 million project meant to expand express lanes on the highway. It has been in the works since 2015 and won’t finish until spring of next year.

A mile-long stretch of I-95 heading south from Sunrise Boulevard to Broward Boulevard will completely shut down just before midnight, but any lanes going north will stay open.

All three lanes of the highway will close at separate times with the first lane shutting down by 9 p.m., the second one by 10 p.m. and the third by 11:30 p.m. All lanes are expected to reopen by 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
