Convicted murderer wanted for killing a Fort Lauderdale man is arrested
A convicted murderer who detectives say shot and killed a Fort Lauderdale man has been arrested, the Broward Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday.
Hubert Blount, 44, was found Tuesday outside a utility room at 3951 NW 31st Ave., BSO said.
Detectives believe Blount has been hiding there since Aug. 8, when he allegedly shot and killed Andre Thomas, 41, who had a son and a daughter.
According to BSO, Thomas was out on his front porch after having a fight with a female friend when Blount approached him. Blount, detectives say, is the woman's brother. After the fight, she called to tell him about the fight and he showed up with a gun, BSO said.
Blount, who is being held in Broward's main jail, is charged with murder and possession of a deadly weapon by a convicted felon. He had been convicted in 1995 of second-degree murder.
