Across South Florida, vibrant neighborhoods have become eerily silent. Faces in public are covered by masks. Neighbors greet each other at a distance. Instructions on how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are posted everywhere. These are some of the signs of the time, images in our community captured by el Nuevo Herald and Miami Herald visual journalists.

Volunteers and city of Miami employees load food and vegetables into hundreds of cars lined up for hours early Saturday at a food giveaway coordinated by Miami Commissioner Manolo Reyes, who teamed up with Farm Share of Florida. The April 11, 2020, giveaway at Magic City Casino in Miami was aimed at helping many families that are in need due to the coronavirus pandemic.
