There have been fatal problems with the liposuction procedure known as a “Brazilian butt lift” at Seduction Cosmetic Center, formerly in Doral and now in Coral Gables.

For the second time in 17 months, a Coral Gables cosmetic surgery center doctor will be fined, but this time for overall violations at the facility.
Seduction Cosmetic Center’s Dr. John Sampson was dunned $25,656 and banned from Brazilian butt lifts for his own professional sins, which resulted in the death of a Seduction patient in June 2021. But Sampson also was Seduction’s designated physician, the doctor responsible for making sure the office surgery center complied with state regulations.
Inspectors checking out Seduction, 4950 SW Eighth St., two days after the butt-lift patient’s death found at least six significant violations. When this happens, there’s an administrative complaint starting the discipline process filed against the office surgery center and one filed against the designated physician.

Seduction’s discipline case is still pending. Sampson’s case as Seduction’s designated physician will go before the Board of Medicine on Friday.
According to the meeting’s public book, in a settlement agreement, Sampson will be fined $5,000 plus a maximum of $3,000 in case costs. He also must take a five-hour continuing medical education class in laws, rules and ethics. He’s already permanently banned from serving as designated physician for any facility.
Seduction refused to comment when the complaint was first filed in September 2022 and repeatedly refuses to comment to Miami Herald reporters in person, by phone and email.
