Visitation rules at Jackson Health System tighten again as COVID-19 cases rise
Jackson Health System has once again changed visitation policy at its hospitals and other facilities as Miami-Dade County sees an uptick in COVID-19 cases.
In March, the county’s public hospital network lightened its rules as COVID cases continued to drop since the beginning of the year after the omicron surge.
However, in April cases began to trend upward again, according to Miami Herald calculations of data published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The new cases haven’t reached the daily increases of the omicron and delta waves, but in early May hospitalized COVID patients also began to trend up for the first time in two months. ICU patients followed a week later and trended up as well.
Here is a look at the new policy:
▪ Adults cannot have any visitors in the emergency department. One person is allowed to accompany a pediatric patient.
▪ Adult inpatients can have one visitor from 9 a.m. to noon and from 5 to 9 p.m. Pediatric patients are allowed one guest at a time from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and an overnight visitor.
▪ Newborn ICU and maternity patients are permitted to have one visitor.
▪ Behavioral Health patients at Jackson South Medical Center can have one guest from 6 to 7 p.m.
▪ Behavioral Health patients at Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital can have one visitor from 5 to 6 p.m. for patients whose last name begins with A-M and 6 to 7 p.m. for patients whose last name begins with N-Z.
