The faces of the first wave of COVID-19 deaths in South Florida.
The faces of the first wave of COVID-19 deaths in South Florida.

In South Florida, the grim toll of the global coronavirus pandemic is already in the hundreds.

The virus has claimed nurses and sheriff’s deputies, chefs and construction workers, retirees and grandparents. Its youngest official victim so far was just 27, while its oldest was 101.

Each of these deaths left a hole in the community: grandparents who can no longer spoil their grandchildren, people unable to marry their fiancees, children who will grow up motherless.

The Miami Herald has started to tell those stories as a testament to those we’ve lost, and we need your help.

Share your story of a loved one you’ve lost to the coronavirus. Help us show the community what was lost.
