Zoo Miami is the latest South Florida tourist attraction to close because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Don’t worry — the animals will be taken care of.

“Essential staff will continue to report to work to ensure that all of the animals are receiving the same quality care they have always received and that care will continue without interruption,” the zoo said Thursday.

It is not clear when the zoo will reopen, but in the meantime animal lovers can watch the zoo’s meerkats chasing each other around their enclosure.

In January, Zoo Miami welcomed for the first time meerkat pups. The pups’ mother, 8-year-old Yam Yam, gave birth to the two pups in a secluded area of the meerkat habitat.

The zoo teamed up with EarthCam to share views of the meerkats.

Other animal attractions including the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society, Jungle Island and the Miami Seaquarium are closed until further notice. Lion Country Safari, in Loxahatchee in Palm Beach County, has kept its drive-through safari open for now but has closed the walk-through amusement section. As of Thursday, Monkey Jungle in Southwest Miami-Dade, remained open.
