Watch out! Zoo Miami’s first meerkat pups will kill you with cuteness

Zoo Miami is no stranger to baby critters. From lions to tigers to koala bears, they’ve almost seen it all. But two newborns are a first for the zoo. And they are cute.

Say hello to a pair of furry meerkats.

On Jan. 18, 8-year-old Yam Yam gave birth to the two pups in a secluded area of the meerkat habitat. Their gender is not yet known — and the father is also a mystery.

It could be any of Yam Yam’s brothers: Gizmo, Joe or Diego, who are all 6 and came from Brevard Zoo. The only way to identify the father is Maury Povich-style, with a DNA test.

This is the first time meerkat pups have been born at the South Miami-Dade attraction. The babies are able to use the whole meerkat exhibit and should be coming out for the public to adore them in the next few days.
