Universal Orlando Resort is tightening its mask policies at parks, hotels and restaurants as the omicron variant spreads and cases rise.

Starting Christmas Eve, face coverings will be required at all indoor locations at Universal Orlando, the theme park said Wednesday. The areas include shops, restaurants and indoor hotel public areas.

In addition, coverings will also be mandated at all attractions starting from when guests enter the queue until they leave the ride.

Furthermore, Universal is telling all guests to bring a mask. This is not the theme park’s first indoor mask policy — at one point, officials mandated that masks be worn at all times after it reopened following a months-long closure last year.

This new guideline now mirrors the mask mandate that Walt Disney World Resort imposed.

Since August, Disney World requires guests to wear masks while indoors. It loosened its rules from having to wear them on rides and in lines.

Florida has seen increased COVID cases the last week. On Wednesday, Florida reported the largest single-day increase in cases since August when the delta variant was in full force.
