Nelson Hidalgo has been named executive vice president to lead the business banking division, and Martha Guerra-Kattou has been named senior vice president, director of sales & marketing, at U.S. Century Bank. Previously, Hidalgo directed the branch division at TotalBank. He has a bachelor’s in business administration from FIU. Guerra-Kattou was also previously at TotalBank, where she held various management roles. She graduated from the Florida School of banking.

EDUCATION

Brandon L. Hensler has been named executive director, university relations at Nova Southeastern University. Previously he was interim executive director of university relations. Hensler has a bachelor’s in international studies/Latin American studies from Miami University (Ohio) and a master’s in conflict analysis and resolution from NSU.

ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES

Jeffrey Li has been named chief financial officer of VMR Products, which is based in Miami. He was previously director of investments at Shanghai-based Huabao International Holdings Ltd.

HEALTHCARE

Mark Racicot joins the administrative team at Palmetto General Hospital as chief operating officer. Previously, he was associate chief operating officer at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick, Massachusetts. Racicot has a bachelor’s in civil engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

LAW

Brian Canida has been named counsel and head of the venture capital group at Alvarez Arrieta & Diaz-Silveira. Previously he was a corporate associate in the New York office of Schulte Roth & Zabel. Canida has a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from Georgetown.

Driscoll R. Ugarte has been promoted to partner at Duane Morris in the firm’s Boca Raton office. He is in the corporate practice group. Ugarte has a degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from Georgetown.

PHARMACEUTICALS

Noven has named Michael Greene vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. He previously was Noven’s deputy general counsel and executive director — alliance management. Jeff Mihm has been named chief executive officer in 2016. Most recently, he was vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel. John Choi is Noven’s vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer. Choi most recently was the company’s executive director-business planning & analysis.

Name: Rebecca Leon

New position: Partner in the financial services practice group of Holland & Knight in Miami.

From: Principal with Bressler Amery Ross. She co-chaired the firm’s broker-dealer regulation and compliance practice and led the firm’s international financial services regulation and investment management practices.

And: Leon advises broker-dealers, investment advisers, fund managers, banks and wealth managers on a variety of U.S. and international regulatory, transactional and operational issues. She has also been a staff attorney in the enforcement division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s New York regional office.

Education: Bachelor’s and MBA from Case Western Reserve University; J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
