Most CEOs agree: One cellphone is enough

This week’s question: How many cellphones do you have? Why?

==========

One. That’s even too many!

Daniel Ades, managing partner, Kawa Capital Management

==========

One cellphone is all I need. I seamlessly blend my work and personal life and use a single number to simplify things for my clients, family and friends. Dial one number and it finds me — in the office, or on my cell. I believe in the one-phone approach so much, RBB pays for all employees’ cellphones so they can use the single number reach system as well.

Christine Barney, CEO, RBB Communications

==========

I have one cellphone I use for business purposes, as well as for personal. I do know business executives and professionals that do carry two cellphones, one for each purpose, but for me it's more convenient to have just one cellphone.

Richard Behar, founder and CEO, Capitol Clothing Corp.

==========

Two. Why? For one, because as I said before, I am always on call, I am constantly traveling, and it's important to have a backup. From the practical perspective, when I'm mobile, having two phones allows me to be on a call on one device and use the second phone to view reports or presentations relevant to that conference call. It's very convenient for road warriors like me.

Carmen Castillo, president and CEO, SDI International

==========

I have one cellphone; in my case it keeps it easier. I can understand for those people that live in multiple countries, where multiple cellphones may be important.

Alicia Cervera Lamadrid, managing partner, Cervera Real Estate

==========

One is all I need because I know how not to answer when I am involved in other things. My office manager also answers the office phone where most business calls come and/or to his cellphone. I spend so much of my day in meetings, phone calls are not the best way for people to connect me anyway.

Pandwe Gibson, executive director, EcoTech Visions

==========

I have one cellphone, which seems like more than enough to me.

Julie Grimes, managing partner, Hilton Bentley Hotel

==========

I just have one. I don't think I could handle another phone dinging all the time.

Felecia Hatcher, co-founder of Feverish Gourmet Pops

==========

I have one and it is more than enough because it is a VERY smart phone.

Ann Machado, founder and president, Creative Staffing

==========

I have one cellphone (a Blackberry, which I love) because that’s all I need and I’m afraid of dying from Device Overdose!

Victor Mendelson, co-president, HEICO

==========

I tried having two cellphones, but it didn’t work for me. I find it more convenient to centralize my emails and apps on one device.

Nitin Motwani, managing principal, Miami Worldcenter Associates

==========

This one’s easy: one. Life is complicated as it is; keeping it simple with one cellphone is the wisest choice for me.

Abe Ng, founder and CEO of Sushi Maki

==========

I have one cellphone.

Todd Oretsky, co-founder, Pipeline Brickell

==========

One. I know people who carry multiple phones, but today’s phones truly have the features that help one manage multiple calls, access multiple email accounts and do pretty much anything else on the go. Carrying more than one phone would seem to complicate things. I do, however, have both a smartphone and iPad that I use for different purposes.

Eduardo Padrón, president, Miami Dade College

==========

Just one! I don’t feel the need for more. Between business calls, work and personal emails, and texts from my kids, I’ve found it’s easiest for me to stay reachable on a single device.

Joanna Schwartz, CEO and co-founder, EarlyShares

==========

One. I think too much connectivity only creates more stress. Also, it is one more thing I can misplace!

Dave Seleski, president and CEO, Stonegate Bank

==========

I have two in the event of an emergency or complete failure of one.

Darryl K. Sharpton, president and CEO, The Sharpton Group

==========

One is all I need.

Andrew Smulian, chairman and CEO, Akerman LLP

==========

Just one — that's enough.

Gillian Thomas, president and CEO, Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science

==========

Two. One number is for family only so I'm reachable even when I want to disconnect from the other device for a few hours. I'm always using my iPhone camera to capture inspiration and I love checking Instagram to see pictures of people wearing our clothes. It feels good to be connected that way to our customers.

Alina Villasante, founder, Peace Love World clothing

==========

One is enough for me. It’s in my hand, on my desk or in my pants pocket almost every waking moment. I shudder at the thought of carrying two. I like to keep it simple…If you want to talk to me, here is my number.

John Wood, president, Amicon Construction
