A major clothing store is expanding in Miami. Where and when the new stores will open

While some familiar chains are shrinking, Burlington is getting as bulky as the coats that once gave the discount retailer its name.

Two new Burlington stores are opening in Miami-Dade County in the fall, boosting the number of stores in Florida to 114. That’s 10 more than last year at this time. Florida has nearly 10% of the 1,020 stores in the continental U.S., and that total has nearly doubled since 2016.

Only Texas and California have more Burlington outlets. The chain opened its first Burlington Coat Factory outlet in New Jersey in 1972.

The two new Miami locations will feature a re-imagined store layout that calls attention to its deals with signs that pop: “Deals. Brands. WOW!”

The two new stores are set to open in the fall. Burlington did not release opening dates.

What Burlington sells

For the uninitiated, Burlington moved from its emphasis on coats, and dropped “Coat Factory” from its name in 2014. The discount clothing retailer sells toys, footwear, baby goods, home décor items and pet care supplies.
