As Publix opens more locations across Florida, the grocer just entered another state
Publix continues its march across Florida.
The newest location in the state is a 50,000-square-foot store in Sarasota that opened in March. But the company is making inroads in other states as well.
The Florida company is moving into Kentucky for the first time. And the grocery chain just announced a second Lexington location is in the works. No opening time frame was announced for the 46,000-square-foot store.
“We are excited to soon be adding another new store in Lexington, and we’re looking forward to serving our new customers!” the company said through a spokesperson.
Publix previously announced plans to build its first Lexington grocery store. Construction has begun and it is expected to open in late 2024 with a 55,701-square-foot grocery store, a drive-thru pharmacy and an adjacent 3,200-square-foot liquor store.

Kentucky Publix grocery store locations
In addition to the two Lexington locations, Publix is scheduled to open its first Kentucky store by the end of 2023 in Louisville. The company broke ground in June 2022.
Two more Louisville locations also have been announced. Both are scheduled to open in 2024.
In addition to its Florida home turf and now its expansion into Kentucky, the 1,200-plus-store Publix also has locations stores in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Virginia.
