Is that really a Publix? What to know about these smaller specialty stores in Florida
Walk into GreenWise Market and you may get the feels of a Whole Foods Market. You’ll see a focus on organic products, a pizza counter, wine and cheese, prepared foods, a coffee bar.
The sign outside is green, but this is not your typical Publix.
The newest GreenWise markets opened in 2021 in Fort Lauderdale and Tampa. A Boca Raton location opened in 2019.

What is the Publix GreenWise Market?
Stock: Specialty store sells organic and gourmet groceries, natural personal care products, cheese, olives, cured meats. There’s also beer on tap, wine, kombucha. There’s also freshly made food including bowls, sandwiches and pizza. And yes, there are Pub Subs and BOGOs, according to the company. The stores are about half the size as the typical Publix market. GreenWise is divided into the following categories:
▪ Cares - Vitamins, nutritional supplements, natural soaps and shampoos
▪ Cuts - Meat with no antibiotics or added hormones, sustainably sourced seafood
▪ Eats - Made-to-order meals and grab-and-go foods including sandwiches and pizza
▪ Finds - Curated selection of wines and imported cheeses
▪ Pours - Beverage area featuring coffee, wine and beer on tap
Reaction:
▪ “Our curated mix of high-quality specialty make-at-home and grab and go items will add a level of convenience for residents and visitors looking for easy meal solutions as they enjoy the events and activities available in the surrounding area,” Publix President Kevin Murphy said when the Tampa store opened in 2021.
▪ “We took all of the things our customers love about GreenWise Market and put them in a centralized downtown location,” Murphy said on the opening of the Fort Lauderdale location.

The region has two locations:
Fort Lauderdale: 255 SE Third Ave.
Boca Raton: 8210 Glades Rd.
Where are the other GreenWise locations in Florida?
Tampa: 555 Channelside Dr.
Tallahassee: 625 W Gaines St.
Ponte Vedra: 250 Pine Lake Dr.
Lakeland: 4747 S. Florida Ave.
Odessa: 2175 Sembler Dr.
Are there plans for more GreenWise markets?
Right now, Publix has not announced plans to open new GreenWise markets. The company operates one GreenWise in Mountain Brook, Alabama, but has closed several stores in other states.
