Miami tech companies will be looking to hire locally for more than 500 roles at a job fair slated for Thursday, Dec. 2, at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus.

More than 20 companies, including Amazon Web Services, Barry’s, Blackstone, Blockchain.com, Kaseya, REEF, Schonfeld and Slalom, are hoping to fill roles.

The Miami Herald has reported on the mixed results local tech workers have found in getting hired amid the city’s broader tech boom. While the COVID pandemic has made moving to South Florida a national trend, it has leveled the tech talent playing field, as companies go “remote-first” to make sure they can secure top talent.

The job fair is being spearheaded by Miami Mayor Francis Suarez’s Venture Miami initiative, with support from Miami-Dade County, Miami Dade College, Florida International University, Florida Memorial University, the University of Miami, the Miami Downtown Development Authority and the Talent Development Network.

“The Miami Movement was made by Miamians, for Miamians, and the Venture Miami Job Fair is the perfect opportunity to connect with the people and the businesses behind it,” Suarez said in a statement. “If you want to be a part of what we’re building, be prepared to get hired on the spot.”

The fair runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is free. More information at eventbrite.com.
