5.8 million water bottles recalled. The new nipples are winding up in kids mouths, too

Contigo knew it had a problem with the spouts on the 5.8 million Kids Cleanable Water Bottles recalled in August. But the replacement spouts had the same problem, which is why Contigo re-announced the recall Wednesday.

The exact problem, as stated in the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall: ‘”The water bottles clear silicone spout can detach, posing a choking hazard to children.”

And Contigo’s heard of 427 spout detachments with 27 of them winding up in children’s mouths.

The base and cover of the spouts are black. If they’re not black, they’re not recalled. The bottles come in 13-ounce, 14-ounce and 20-ounce sizes and in solid colors, stainless steel, solid-colored stainless steel and graphic design.

Customers should stop using the bottles and contact Contigo for a free bottle by calling 888-262-0622, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Eastern time.
