Is your local Sears and Kmart closing? Here are the ones expected to stay open

Going out of business sales have begun at most of the 96 Sears and Kmart stores that are slated to close by February, including in South Florida.

Florida is expected to say goodbye to three Sears, one Sears Auto Center and four Kmarts by February. Six of these stores are in South Florida, including Broward County’s last Kmart, 3800 Oakwood Blvd. in Hollywood.

A more than 40-year-old Kmart in Boca Raton also closed down on Oct. 31 for not meeting Sear Holdings “go-forward criteria,” according to the Sun Sentinel.

The sales might sound like good news for bargain hunters searching for the right gift at an affordable price. But what if you still have a softer side for Sears and a blue-light attraction for Kmart?

Transform Holdco, the parent company of the two retailers, declined the Miami Herald’s request for an updated listing of stores that are expected to remain open after February 2020 in South Florida.

But by reviewing Sears.com and Kmart.com’s store locator feature, along with Transform Holdco’s November closure announcements and paperwork filed with Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity, here’s a list of stores that are expected to remain open in South Florida after the upcoming February 2020 closings.

This information may change as the brands, which once dominated the retail industry, struggle to save their dying businesses.

You can use the map below to find the store nearest to you or scroll down for a list of locations that will remain open after February:
