Will my trash be picked up New Year’s Day?
Miami-Dade residents can ring in the New Year without worrying about missed trash or recycling service.
The Miami-Dade Department of Solid Waste Management has announced that waste and recycling collection will operate on a normal schedule on New Year’s Day, Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
Residents should place trash and recycling at the curb as usual.
All county disposal facilities, including Trash and Recycling Centers and Home Chemical Collection Centers, will also remain open during regular operating hours on New Year’s Day.
However, residents should note that solid waste administrative offices will be closed on Jan. 1.
Anyone needing assistance or service information is encouraged to contact the county’s 311 Contact Center before the holiday or check online.
For commercial customers and waste haulers, Miami-Dade also shared the holiday schedule for WM Inc.’s Medley Landfill.
The landfill will close early at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, and will reopen on New Year’s Day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Residents can find additional holiday service updates through Miami-Dade’s solid waste website or by calling 311.
