Things To Do

Changes are coming: Here’s what you can and can’t do in Miami this weekend

Fall is coming to Miami, and that means change (and hopefully no hurricanes).

The first is football. It’s back! The Miami Dolphins open the season on Sunday, Sept. 13 in New England against the Patriots. There’s no in-person attendance in New England, but you can watch the Dolphins game at the Hard Rock’s outdoor theater in a private cabana if you want.

Meanwhile, Miami-Dade County will move its curfew to 11 p.m. starting Monday Sept. 14. That means the 10 p.m. curfew is in effect this weekend except for ticket holders of the UM game, who are exempt.

More changes are coming next week, including the possible opening of movie theaters, other businesses and some local attractions. But here’s what you can and can’t do in Miami Sept. 11-13. County curfew is still in effect from 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

Masks remain mandatory in Miami-Dade County.

RESTAURANTS

Restaurants reopened for limited-capacity indoor dining, plus outdoor dining, takeout or delivery. Some restaurants have closed temporarily during the COVID-19 outbreak, while others have closed for good.

BARS

The state of Florida plans to allow bars to open at 50 percent capacity next week, but Miami-Dade bars will remain closed unless they have a food license. If they do have a license, they can only operate at limited capacity and must abide by the Miami-Dade County curfew.

NIGHTCLUBS

Nightclubs are still closed under county rules.

BEACHES

County beaches are open.

MOVIE THEATERS

Movie theaters aren’t open in Miami-Dade County, but some theaters have reopened in Broward County. Check Fandango for theaters nearest to you.

A few pop-up drive-in movie theaters remain open, including a drive-in at the Miami Youth Fairgrounds, which is showing “The Karate Kid,” “Shark Tale” and “Jaws” this weekend. The Hard Rock Stadium Fountain Open Air Plaza theater is also open and showing “Rolling Stones: Havana Moon” on Sept. 11. At Carpool Cinema Wynwood, relieve your childhood with “The Mummy.”
