Things To Do

Española Way on Miami Beach is coming back to life. Is your favorite restaurant open yet?

Española Way is slowly coming back to life.

Some of the restaurants lining the Mediterranean style pedestrian street in Miami Beach have now reopened for dine-in service after temporary closures due to the coronavirus pandemic. Many of Miami-Dade County’s restaurants reopened May 18.

Open as of May 27 on Española Way are Boteco Copacabana; Hosteria Romana; Moshi Moshi; Limon y Sal; and Española Cigar Bar & Lounge.

Not every spot is quite ready to go. Havana 1957 and Oh! Mexico are planning to open May 29. Mercato della Pescheria is tentatively scheduled to reopen on June 12.

Still closed are A la Folie, Numero 28 and Pane e Vino, which was named the best spot for everyday dining in the United States in TripAdvisor’s 2019 Travelers Choice Awards.

The restaurants’ outdoor tables have been distanced from each other to follow social distancing and health guidelines set up by the City of Miami Beach.

“For the last 95 years, Española Way has been a special gathering spot for locals and vacationers. It’s home to a dozen restaurants and sidewalk cafes, an easy drive from anywhere in Miami Dade and Broward,” said Scott Robins, Española Way developer. “We are very excited to welcome back the community.”

Española Way, which is located between 14th and 15th streets, and Lincoln Road are no longer the only strolling-friendly streets in Miami Beach. Nine other roadways won county approval to partially or fully close down, at least temporarily, including 10 blocks on Ocean Drive and nine blocks of Washington Avenue.

Single lanes of traffic, parking lanes and sidewalks will be shut down on Lincoln Road, Bay Road, Ocean Terrace and other streets. All street closings will be used for outdoor seating for local restaurants.
