Can we ever reverse the Dolphins curse? This Wynwood bar wants to try

KUSH is doing its part to break the Dolphins curse.

On Super Bowl LIV weekend, of course.

The Dolphins are in no way, shape or form going to a part of the NFL face-off on Feb. 2 at Hard Rock Stadium, but on Feb. 1, at KUSH, the long struggling team will get some comeuppance.

The Wynwood gastropub is hosting the Please Forgive Us Ray Finkle party.

For millennials who may not be aware of the nostalgic pop culture reference, here’s a refresher: In the cult classic comedy “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” shot in Miami, Ray Finkle is a pivotal character.

In the 1994 film, The Fins’ team mascot and player Dan Marino are abducted by Finkle, a crazed former player who blames the star quarterback for the downfall of his career. The twist is that Finkle is now a woman (played by Sean Young) and a lieutenant handling the case, along with Ace (Jim Carrey).

At 3:05 p.m. (how hyper-local) KUSH will be honoring Finkle, hoping that he reverses the “curse” (actually, thought to be due to their old Joe Robbie Stadium being built on ancient burial grounds).

The last time we were in the playoffs was the year 2000, and the last time we won the Super Bowl was 1974, so yeah, Dolfans need a little something something.

“With the belief that if they show Finkle some respect and reverence, he’ll lift the hex,” reads the invite, “KUSH is prepared to do this every year until the Dolphins make the Super Bowl.”

The event will include a recreation of Finkle’s bedroom, complimentary football cookies and a specially brewed beer by Tank Brewing called “Laces Out.” A portion of sales will benefit the local Dolphin Research Center.

We didn’t get word if Marino was coming, but we’re sure he’s invited.
