Hear this master doughnut chef and baker trade stories, bites in Wynwood
It’s not every day you get to hear one of America’s best chefs get his brain picked by one if its best bakers — both of whom call Wynwood home.
James Beard award-winning chef Michael Solomonov (of Wynwood’s Dizengoff and Federal Donuts next door) will be in town Nov. 7 to promote his new cookbook. Local bread man, Zak Stern (aka Zak the Baker) — a Beard nominee, himself — will lead a conversation about cooking and business.
Federal Donuts: The (Partially) True Spectacular Story tells the tale of how Solomonov and co-author Steven Cook (who together own the critically-acclaimed Philly-based Zahav) stumbled into the doughnut (and fried chicken and coffee) business. This is Solomonov’s second cookbook. In 2015, he wrote Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking.
There will be light-food tasting from Solomonov’s restaurants along with drinks for purchase from the Broken Shaker (which was again named one of the world’s 50 best bars). Each purchased ticket includes a copy of Solomonov’s latest book.
