This popular upscale Italian food hall is now open in Wynwood. Have you been?
When you walk into the new Casa Tua Cucina in Wynwood, you’re not only ordering a meal. You get a show — and you’re part of it.
Sit outside, and you’ll see every different sort of Wynwood wanderer passing by, along with assorted Waymos and delivery robots. Sit inside, and witness couples on dates, friends hanging out, families with kids in tow, even a few extraordinarily well-behaved dogs, hoping in vain for an errant slice of mortadella.
Either way, the (mostly) Italian restaurant-and-market with the open-kitchen concept is deliberately theatrical and energetic — even if all you want is a coffee and pastry or a smoothie to go.
Like its popular, always-packed sister at Brickell City Centre, Casa Tua Cucina Wynwood aims to be a gathering point. Located in the NoMad Residences Wynwood at Northwest 27th Terrace and Northwest Second Avenue, the venue, according to Italian-born creator Miky Grendene, “starts with our people.”
“When the team feels proud, and when they feel seen and celebrated, they work differently,” he said. “And when you invite guests into that experience, they feel it, too. The connection creates something powerful for everyone, and somehow the food tastes better for it.”
Along with his wife Leticia, Grendene founded the Casa Tua brand 25 years ago with an elegant restaurant, boutique hotel and private social members club in Miami Beach. It expanded to Aspen, New York City and Paris (with Capri coming soon) and to the lively “Italian kitchen” concept of Casa Tua Cucina at Brickell City Centre.
The Brickell Casa Tua Cucina now serves around 3,000 customers every day and more than one million every year.
The new outpost may be a little smaller than its Brickell sister, but it doesn’t fill cramped. The new food hall boasts 13,500 square feet of indoor space for dining, plus 5,000 square feet of outsdoor space, with room for 350 guests.
Much like at any food hall, there are 10 different stations, but you don’t have to order individually at each station. A server will deliver a menu. Peruse it and make your order, and everything will come to you.
Food stations include:
Pasta: It’s handmade and the menu rotates (don’t sleep on the cacio e pepe, though the most popular pasta are the carbonara and the Bolognese)
Pizza, salumi and panini: Casa Tua Cucina offers a variety of pizzas, paninis, croissant sandwiches and charcuterie.
The grill: Meats cooked over a wood-burning fire, such as half a rotisserie chicken, burgers and sous vide chicken breast
Frutta and verdura: You’ll find juices pressed every day as well as seasonal produce and lighter dishes like the pear and arugula salad or the Caprese, among others
Dolci: Desserts including the ever-popular tiramisu, tres leches and Italian cheesecake.
Caffe and gelato: You can grab espressos and cappuccinos and the like to go or just come in for a gelato treat
Il Bar: You can drink at the bar or eat at the bar — or eat and drink at the bar.
Bread: 10 different loaves made with Italian flour are available daily
Mercato: A gourmet market that sells Casa Tua Cucina brands of pasta, sauces, olive oils, chocolates and coffee (and more)
Crudo and sushi: Yes. You can order crudos and sushi rolls like the tuna avocado, lobster or hamachi roll at Casa Tua Cucina, as unlikely as it sounds. Not Italian but listen, some days, pasta just seems too heavy.
Based on the success of the Brickell venue, the brand is planning for expansion, with additional locations planned for Boston and Brooklyn. There’s also a plan for Casa Tua Cucina to become an anchor tenant in the upcoming One Beverly Hills development scheduled to open in 2028.
