The Miami Beach restaurant with the $1,000 steak reopens with a bang
Just in time for the holiday season, Papi Steak is back to popping bottles once again.
The popular South Beach clubstaurant owned by buddies David Grutman and David Einhorn shut temporarily in September, and just re-opened its doors after an extensive glow-up.
Still on the menu are the fabulous entrees, including the famed $1,000 Australian wagyu 55-ounce Tomahawk served in a lit-up briefcase (”beefcase”) by sparkler-waving, white-gloved servers.
“I want to provide an experience to our guests that’s loosely modeled off of European summertime nightlife,” Einhorn told the Miami Herald of the viral, edible spectacle. “I love everything lavish, over-the-top and hedonistic. I want to see and bring more of this vibe into the U.S., so my job here is to curate the guest experience to the full extent.”
Not much has changed in that regard. During last week’s opening party, Einhorn rolled up in a limo and proceeded to work the room in a King Charles worthy crown for the lavish festivities.
But what may come as a disappointment to regulars: Gone now is the unforgettable black floral wall mural, the backdrop for many a celebrity selfie. In its place is a lighter, brighter masterpiece by the same artist, Canadian textile designer Candice Kaye, who also glitzed up dozens of other glam eateries, including 53 at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC.
Papi Steak’s interiors were done by the Rockwell Group, the company behind other sleek Grutman hot spots such as Gekko in Brickell, co-owned by Bad Bunny.
The new look includes a velvet entryway; deep red banquettes; and gold accents literally everywhere.
“Papi Steak has always been about bold design, big energy and an exceptional dining experience,” said Grutman in a statement. “This renovation is about pushing the concept even further and creating something that feels fresh, immersive and iconic all over again.”
