This high-energy steakhouse in Miami Beach is closing — for a brand new look
The party is shutting down at Papi Steak — but only for a makeover.
The steakhouse and party place known for its $1,000 “beef case” — an Australian wagyu Tomahawk steak served in a case covered in rhinestones and accompanied by a laser light show and a “steak dance” among other celebratory activities — is undergoing a full renovation.
Owned and operated by David Grutman’s Groot Hospitality, Papi Steak will be undergoing a redesign by design firm Rockwell Group, which has worked with Groot Hospitality on spots like Komodo at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas and Gekko in Miami. The brand also operates Casadonna in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood.
The new look includes a lacquered entryway with velvet walls and gold accents; a dining room with red velvet banquettes, resin-topped tables and a crystal chandelier as the centerpiece. You’ll also see plenty of gold detailing, with floral wallcoverings from designer Candice Kaye.
Grutman said the new look fits the Papi Steak ethos.
“Papi Steak has always been about bold design, big energy and an exceptional dining experience,” he said in a statement.
Papi Steak co-founder David “Papi” Einhorn agreed.
“This renovation is about pushing the concept even further and creating something that feels fresh, immersive and iconic all over again,” he said in a statement.
The restaurant closes Sept. 2 and is expected to reopen sometime in November.
