New upscale steakhouse from Mexican hospitality group opens in Coral Gables
A hospitality group from Mexico has opened its first U.S. restaurant in Coral Gables.
Rò Steakhouse from ViCa Hospitality Group is now open Alhambra Tower, a Mediterranean-style office building.
Partners Carlos Aguirre and Victor Ferraez from ViCa consider the new restaurant as a blend of the group’s two concepts in Mexico, Cienfuegos and 130 Degree Steakhouse. The new restaurant, they said, offers a combination of classic and modern experience.
“We’re excited to open Rò Steakhouse and become a neighborhood spot,” Ferraez said. “We hope to create a welcoming space where people can enjoy great food any day of the week, whether it’s a casual lunch, a family dinner or special celebration.”
The restaurant is 7,000 square feet and will seat 130 diners indoors (an outdoor patio is scheduled to open later this year). The style is striking, with wooden ceiling panels curved like rock formations and plenty of nods to the natural world in the form of stone, more wood and bronze. There’s also an illuminated bar that seats 10.
Head chef Marcelo Palacios, formerly of Prime 112, runs the kitchen and oversees the menu, which includes hot starters like fire and bone tacos with grilled steak and roasted bone marrow; ribeye or branzino chicharron; Diver scallops with bone marrow; and braised cabbage. Cold starters include octopus carpaccio and hamachi tiradito.
Entrees include a variety of prime steak, like the bone-in ribeye, Tomahawk, New York strip, beef Wellington and A5 Japanese wagyu. Non-steak related items range from pistachio-encrusted tuna and spicy rigatoni to lamb chops and pork chops. You’ll also find truffle risotto as well as side dishes like scallion mac and cheese, garlic mushrooms and truffle fries.
