A new dining and nightclub destination is opening in Brickell. Here are the vendors
The latest addition to Brickell nightlife (and daylife, for that matter) is a food hall — but not quite a food hall.
Okeydokey is the creation of French entrepreneur Stephane Benkemoun, who wanted to open a unique dining and entertainment destination that’s fast-casual and affordable but slightly more upscale, one that involves several vendors and, eventually, a nightclub-style venue for guests 21 and up.
Designed in an industrial style, Okeydokey includes 15,000 square feet of indoor space, with 3,000 square feet of outdoor patio and can seat up to 308 guests. As for that curious name, Benkemoun said he wanted a name that was universal, something catchy and simple.
Unlike the process at most food halls, Okeydokey has a hostess who greets diners and takes them to a table on the first or second floor. Guests can scan a QR code for vendor menus, although if they need assistance they can also order from a real, live human, and their food will be brought to the table.
Here are the vendors you can order from:
Little Bird: This concept from the popular Doce Provisions from Little Havana offers rotisserie chicken as well as various mixed grilled platters and a brisket butter burger.
Yoso Ramen: This Japanese restaurant serves ramen, of course, but you can also get spicy tuna poke and Boba tea.
Mac: The menu at this Asian spot includes kung pao cauliflower, Shanghai sea bass and prime beef fillets with Korean chilis.
Dal Plin: This Italian restaurant, which has locations at MIA Market in Miami and Shoma Bazaar in Doral, offers classic dishes like fettucine carbonara, eggplant parm and pizzas.
Jaffa: From Yaniv Cohen, known as The Spice Detective, this Israeli spot serves Glatt kosher meat plus vegan options like falafel mezze and a deconstructed baba ganoush
Coffee Break: This rise-and-shine restaurant opens early at 8 a.m. to serve breakfast, pastries, fresh pressed juices and (of course) coffee.
Each restaurant has its own kitchen to prepare food.
Okeydokey also has a robust cocktail program, with signature drinks like Freshly Squeezed with Haku vodka, St. Germain and strawberries and Suns Out, Buns Out, an old fashioned with Suntory whiskey, ginger, cinnamon and orange betters. There’s even a special tiki cocktail with Reposado, sake, lychee puree, mint and grapefruit juice.
The first two floors open first, at the end of April. In a few weeks, Benkemoun says, the third floor club will open with its own cocktail program and nightly entertainment (both live music and DJ performances).
Benkemoun says that he loves the complex’s location on the edge of Brickell.
“It’s the perfect place for us, right off I-95,” he said, adding that Okeydokey has 40 of its own parking spots plus valet parking. “Access is easy. You can come from Coconut Grove or Little Havana.”
In a city where new restaurants, nightclubs and food halls pop up frequently, he says he’s not worried about the competition.
“We have a lot of new buildings in Brickell,” he said. “Next to us three new condos are being built. I think we’re going to have more and more people moving here. And I’m sure what we offer is unique.”
