This wellness guru’s first Miami restaurant is finally opening in Kendall
True Food Kitchen, the national health-conscious restaurant and lifestyle brand co-founded by celebrity doctor Andrew Weil, was supposed to open in Kendall two years ago.
The year 2020, of course, confounded the dreams of restaurants, chefs and diners alike, thanks to the COVID pandemic. But this month, the integrative medicine guru’s brand is finally opening its first Miami location at The Falls.
The concept for True Food Kitchen is built around Weil’s anti-inflammatory food pyramid, which highlights vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans and legumes and seafood as a foundation for healthy eating. That’s why you’ll find seasonal dishes like grilled sustainable salmon and a tuna poke bowl on the menu, as well as salads, grilled steak and grain bowls.
There’s a separate brunch menu as well with a variety of choices like eggs, avocado toast and strawberry lemon pancakes. And lest you think craft cocktails are off the menu, know the drink menu includes a watermelon mojito, a Thai blueberry martini and a drink called Peaches and Bourbon, which is self-explanatory.
The Kendall restaurant will be the brand’s sixth restaurant in Florida — the others are in Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Naples, Tampa and Jacksonville — and its 42nd location in the U.S. The dining room seats 385 diners and faces an open kitchen, with an outdoor patio that seats 124 amid garden basins of herbs and spices.
There’s a private dining room for eight that you can reserve, as well as a full-service bar and a separate entrance for to-go orders.
