This kosher barbecue spot in Aventura is the latest New York restaurant to move south
New barbecue restaurants have opened recently in Miami, aiming to take different slices of the brisket, if you will. Now South Florida has a new kosher barbecue spot.
Izzy’s Brooklyn Smokehouse, which calls itself the first kosher barbecue restaurant to open in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, has opened a new Aventura location. It’s Izzy’s third location and the first outside of New York.
It joins Mendel’s Backyard BBQ in Surfside, which also has an all-kosher menu.
Highlights of Izzy’s strictly kosher menu include 18-hour smoked brisket, house-cured pastrami, mammoth beef ribs, smoked lamb and pulled beef or chopped brisket sandwiches.
Pitboss Izzy Eidelman opened Izzy’s in Brooklyn and quickly found success with barbecue that, as Eidelman puts it, happens to be kosher but intends on being simply great barbecue. Eidelman saw the rush of New York restaurants opening in South Florida and moved to join them.
“Just like so many of our fellow New Yorkers, Izzy’s is craving some hot Miami weather and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to bring our fun menu to the Miami community,” Eidelman wrote in a release.
The restaurant quietly opened over the weekend and is accepting reservations through Resy.
