This beloved French restaurant in Miami Shores just closed for good
After four years and countless French delicacies from escargot to beef tartare to trout almondine, Côté Gourmet restaurant is closed forever.
The restaurant on Second Avenue in Miami Shores — not to confused by the new Cote steakhouse which opened earlier this year in Miami’s Design District — announced on its Facebook page that it’s shutting down for good.
“Each of us arrived in America with a dream,” reads a note from Senegalese chef Amina Ly. “Mine was cooking, of course, and creating something new and elegant, introducing my delicious cuisine that was quite simply a beautiful mix of my culture...of my history, of my life. With Côté Gourmet I had the opportunity to fulfill my dream and I hope that in these 4 years all of you beloved friends and customers also took the opportunity to dream with me.”
Ly, who started her career as a chef on a yacht and cooked for the Prince of Monaco at the Monaco Grand Prix, was quick to assure her customers that she hasn’t gone far. She’ll be cooking at the waterfront restaurant Great House at Quayside.
“Come join us, enjoy the menu, enjoy the beautiful ocean view, and enjoy my new dream,” she wrote. Great House, which serves brunch, lunch and dinner, is a residents-only restaurant.
