This Los Angeles taco chain brings its ‘Mexican-style’ cuisine to Ocean Drive
South Beach’s taco shops are getting an imported new neighbor.
Los Angeles’ Pink Taco is opening a location at 1200 Ocean Drive, smack in the middle of the area’s touristy section, according to a press release.
It joins some of the beach’s favorite taco spots, Bodega Taqueria y Tequila on Alton Road, and Taquiza, which moved from its longtime South Beach home to North Beach.
Pink Taco promises what it calls “Mexican-style” made-from-scratch cuisine that made it a success in West Hollywood, and later in Boston, Chicago and Las Vegas.
Its signature dish is the eponymous Pink Taco, filled with achiote-marinated chicken, black beans, avocado, arbol salsa, cotija cheese, habanero pepper and pickled onions. Other dishes include a lobster enchilada, a dish of three sweet potatoes topped with cactus salsa and cotija cheese, and street corn with chipotle mayo and cotija cheese.
Margaritas, frozen and on the rocks, are a specialty. Among them are the Something Pink, which mixes Codigo 1530 Blanco tequila with with fresh prickly pear purée, served in a Pink Taco glass to take home. The restaurant will also have a Miami-specific cocktail, the Miami Vice — part strawberry daiquiri, part piña colada.
Prices for a trio of tacos will run about $15. For drinks, they go up from $13.
The restaurant opens Jan. 14.
