Hurricane Maria wreaked havoc on Puerto Rico over a year ago, and a ton of celebrities helped out, sending supplies and raising money for the storm ravaged island.
Now a few are being recognized for their efforts.

Carlos Ponce, Jencarlos Canela and Miami Dolphins player Kiko Alonso will be in Miami Beach starting at 8 p.m. at Island Gardens Saturday to attend the Global Empowerment Mission’s Annual Gala, getting props for their philanthropic work.

Among GEM’s varied accomplishments, the group, founded by Michael Capponi, was able to place 60 Haitian children in private schools last year, as well as supply 55 donated planes with aid to the Caribbean after Hurricanes Irma and Maria. This year, they assisted the people in Guatemala with three relief mission after Volcano De Fuego erupted.
