King of Miami nightlife makes cameo at Bad Bunny’s halftime show
The place to be during the Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California, Sunday night?
Not the VIP section with celebrities like Kim Kardashian and her new (we think) beau, racecar driver Lewis Hamilton.
It was in La Casita, a little pink house set up on Levi Stadium’s field for Bad Bunny’s halftime show. Part stage, part house party, La Casita was featured in Bad Bunny’s latest tour and his summer residency in Puerto Rico and would host a rotating cast of celebrities dropping in to groove with the Puerto Rican superstar during the show (actor Jon Hamm made multiple appearances). The Super Bowl halftime show featured its own squad of Bad Bunny buddies.
Among the stars dancing up a storm on the front porch were Cardi B, Jessica Alba, Karol G and Pedro Pascal, and two familiar faces from Miami, Alix Earle and David Grutman.
Random? Maybe not so much. Earle is everywhere, not just in the 305. The influencer came in second place in “Dancing with the Stars” and just announced her own Netflix reality series. She also costarred with the headliner (real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) in last year’s “Happy Gilmore 2.”
As for Grutman, he isn’t just king of the hospitality industry. The LIV owner recently jumped into the entertainment business; his DGN Studios is producing Earle’s unnamed show.
The nightlife impresario is also good friends with Bad Bunny. Back in 2022, the two opened upscale Brickell steakhouse Gekko together and the Puerto Rican rapper often hangs out there when in town.
“He asked me to be part of this about two months ago,” Grutman told the Miami Herald Monday. “As both a friend and partner, I felt honored, and I wanted to be there to witness such a historic moment firsthand.”
On his Instagram, Grutman showed off a few snippets from Bunny’s electric performance, a celebration of the 31-year-old boricua’s home and Latino culture in general. The statement- making spectacle included a replica of a sugarcane field, farmers in pavas (traditional straw hats) and a piragua (shaved ice) stand, with a dash of fireworks, flags and twerkers.
In one video, Groot, 51, and Earle, 25, are about to step onto the field, along with extras dressed as sugarcane bushes.
“Alix, this is crazy, this is crazy,” the clubstaurateur says to the camera as the sugarcane costumed folks run past. “We’re going out there with the bushes. OK, it’s happening.”
After the high of literally being broadcast on the world stage wears off, Grutman has even more things going on. On Feb. 22, the father of two will again host the David Grutman Experience at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival.
The native Floridian will preside over the festivities at the Goya Foods’ Grand Tasting Village with another famous friend — that would be DJ Khaled.
