‘Something is off here’: Bachelor star’s breakup announcement has some folks confused
The Internet is confused.
After “Bachelor” alum Matt James’ post Thursday telling his 1 million followers that he and Rachael Kirkconnell had split, folks collectively scratched their heads.
“Father God, give Rachael and I strength to mend our broken hearts,” the 33 year old wrote next to a pic of them from the ABC reality show where they were on season 25 in 2021. “Give us a peace about this decision to end our relationship that transcends worldly understanding.”
There were just no obvious signs of trouble between the inseparable pair, who lived in Miami’s Wynwood area for a short time.
Only 24 hours before the online bombshell, the former NCAA basketball player and influencer were apparently on vacation in the United Kingdom. James’ timeline is full of content of them looking perfectly happy.
Since the comment function on the breakup announcement was turned off, social media users naturally went to the foodies’ last video together, noshing on pizza.
“So you went to London together, ate a lot of pizza, and decided to break up??”
“Something is off here.”
“How bad was the pizza.”
Some people thought James’ account may have been hacked, and that all was right with his 28-year-old partner in crime.
“With all due respect, the math ain’t mathing on this one, Matt.”
Kirkconnell’s last static Instagram post, gushing over her “pumpkin” on his birthday last month, did nothing to deter the conspiracy theorists that this was so called fake news.
“Happiest of birthdays to my best friend, my teammate, my sous chef, the man that has my whole heart. You fill it (and my tummy) with so much love and laughter and I’m so thankful i get to dance through this life with you,” read her homage. “Thank you for your never ending love and support and smooches and snuggles.”
“Y’all better be playing a prank,” a concerned Bachelor Nation fan wrote her in the comments. “Because I can’t handle y’all breaking up.”
