Elon Musk is apparently living large at Mar-a-Lago these days. Here’s what we know
When you’re the richest person on the planet, you just don’t just lay your head any old place.
We’re of course talking about Elon Musk, who as of Thursday afternoon, was worth a staggering $405 billion, according to Forbes’ real time ticker.
While there are rumors floating around that the South African mega mogul is eyeing a penthouse pad in West Palm Beach, his home away from home these days is apparently Mar-a-Lago.
The New York Times reports the Space X/Tesla founder rents out a luxury suite at Donald Trump’s member’s only property.
Makes sense. Musk has been logging a lot of time at there as unofficial “First Buddy” and incoming co-head of of the Department of Government Efficiency, aka D.O.G.E.
Trump’s largest campaign donor has been crashing at the 62,500-square-foot, 17-acre South Florida estate almost full time since right around Election Day, the outlet adds. He sleeps at the Banyan Cottage, which runs upward of $2,000 a night.
The cottage is near the residential part of the compound where Trump camps out while at his so called winter White House. It’s also within walking distance to such club “privileges” as a swimming pool, spa, five clay tennis courts, croquet court and beach club with restaurant.
Though we found no pictures of Musk’s temporary crib on the resort’s website, all the suites are described as having “ornately carved and hand-painted Moorish ceilings, spectacular ocean views from balconies and verandas with antique Spanish-tiled mosaics.”
Musk’s suite is said to also said to be outfitted with multiple appliances, but apparently he doesn’t do much cooking. As per the Times, the father of 11 — who just attended Trump’s New Year’s Eve party at Mar-a-Lago’s Grand Ballroom with his 4 year old son X — often makes meal requests outside of the kitchen staff’s working hours.
As for Musk’s other home? After selling off most of his real estate portfolio during the pandemic, the 53 year old revealed in the summer of 2021 he was living in a tiny prefab house in Boca Chica, Texas, near SpaceX headquarters.
“It’s kinda awesome,” he wrote in a post on his platform formerly known as Twitter.
