Stephen King in a Florida state of mind: See where author was spotted taking selfies
If Stephen King was looking to escape the chill of Maine, he came to the wrong place.
The famed author, who was a winter home in Casey Key, south of St. Pete, was spotted Wednesday night dining at Amal in Coconut Grove just before a cold snap hit the area.
The 77-year-old author appears Saturday evening at the Miami Book Fair, when temps are supposed to go down into the 50s.
King was accompanied by humorist Dave Barry, who will also be at the book fair earlier in the day, with his Rock Bottom Remainders cover band.
The shareable meal included a sampler of dips, skewer platters and tawook (beef tenderloin) served with grilled vegetables.
For those interested in what the two superstar storytellers were talking about (definitely not writer’s block), an insider tells us a big topic was Martin Scorsese’s new docu-drama “The Saints.”
Politics may or may not come up in conversation at some point. King, a staunch Democrat, recently left X, formerly known as Twitter, for Threads. In his last post on Nov. 14, he complained that the social media app, now owned by billionaire Elon Musk, had become “too toxic.”
King was in great spirits, despite the presidential election outcome. The insider told us when fans recognized him, he gladly posed for selfies.
His latest book, “Never Flinch,” hits stands in May 2025.
According to the publisher Simon & Schuster, the thriller features “intertwining storylines — one about a killer on a diabolical revenge mission, and another about a vigilante targeting a feminist celebrity speaker.”
