Foodgod had an accident while making a meal in Miami. Now he’s suing for $20 million
Foodgod, aka Jonathan Cheban, is suing a bunch of folks after an accident he sustained at home about three years ago.
Kim Kardashian’s bestie filed a lawsuit in Miami-Dade County on Friday demanding $20 million.
The TV personality, who legally changed his name to Foodgod in 2019, alleges that on Oct. 19, 2020, he bought a bottle of of San-J’s Korean barbecue sauce from Milam’s supermarket on 17100 Collins Avenue in Sunny Isles Beach.
When the reality star got back to his Bal Harbour apartment, he placed the product in the refrigerator. A few hours later when he went to open the bottle to use it for dinner, it “inexplicably exploded,” the legal papers allege.
“The glass broke in several shards with the main portion of the bottle slicing open his hand causing significant blood loss,” says the suit, which is accompanied by a picture of the jagged bottle, its top, with the seal still intact, sliced off. There is also a disturbing photo of Cheban’s stitched-up lower palm and bandaged wrist that we will not show here, though TMZ did.
“Only a few inches further down and the defective bottle would have sliced major arteries in his wrist,” says the suit, which blames “manufacturing defects.”
Defendants in the case include everyone from San-J International sauce company and Milam’s to the glass makers (Ardagh) and distributor (KeHe).
Since the injury, the blogger/influencer complains that he has suffered nerve damage and ongoing pain. The 49 year old also says he has lost out on jobs, although his Instagram page is lit up with various placements since the unfortunate incident.
“Foodgod is required to seek therapy and to alter the way he handles items during videos and advertisements while also fighting through the pain and discomfort,” the documents say. “These injuries will likely affect Foodgod for the rest of his life.”
Each defendant has 20 days after being served to respond.
