Sofia Vergara posted a throwback pic the other day that almost broke the Internet.

It was a snap of her in a gold bikini from the ’90s when she was just starting out her career in Miami as a model.

Now we may have some idea why: It was to get us all revved up about a new Netflix show.

The streamer just released its first glimpse of the actress playing infamous 305 “queenpin” Griselda Blanco in the upcoming “Griselda.”

“Sofia Vergara stars as Griselda Blanco in a new limited series inspired by the Colombian businesswoman who created one of the most profitable cartels in history,” says the post.

The Tweet includes a picture of Vergara; her hair is loose and wavy and she’s smoking a cigarette with a fierce look on her face.

The six episodes will reportedly focus on the woman who reigned over the out of control drug scene in Miami’s “Cocaine Cowboy” days of the 1970s and ‘80s.

La Madrina (The Godmother) was reportedly responsible for up to 2,000 murders while shipping cocaine from Medellin to South Florida and elsewhere, an average of 3,400 pounds of cocaine per month.

It will be interesting to see how the easy going, fun loving “Modern Family” star pulls off the role of the ruthless cartel head.’’

In 2012 at the age of 69, Blanco was assassinated in Medellin, where she was deported in 2004 after spending nearly two decades behind bars in the United States.

Another famous actress who was reportedly set to tackle the role of Blanco was Jennifer Lopez. The biopic was in the works from STX Films, the company behind her hit “Hustlers.” There have been few updates on this project, however.

Catherine Zeta-Jones also played La Madrina in 2018, in Lifetime’s “Cocaine Godmother.”
