Camila Cabello takes break from social media weeks after split with Shawn Mendes
She needs a break. We all do.
Camila Cabello is off social media, at least for the time being.
The former Fifth Harmony member took to Instagram on Sunday to break the news to her fans.
“Going on a lil social media detox till the new year!!!!” Cabello told 59 million plus followers.
It’s unclear what the 24-year-old will be doing with all her free time that she’s not spending on a screen.
We do know she has had at least two major life changes, the first, of course, being the breakup with longtime love Shawn Mendes in November.
Cabello also just sold her Mediterranean-style home in Los Angeles for $4.3 million – $350,000 more than the listing price.
Perhaps the “Don’t Go Yet” singer will be spending more time in her hometown of Miami.
If you see her around town, perhaps leave her be. Seems like she wants a bit of down time to decompress.
Her time away from Instagram, Twitter, Facebook et al may have nothing to do with her love life. Cabello admitted in a recent Apple Fitness interview that she suffered from extreme anxiety that was triggered by the COVID lockdowns.
“I just felt really unstable, and I just felt a mess because suddenly, this thing that was distracting me, my work ... was not there. And so I was just left with my anxiety and my mind.”
Ironically, her ex thought differently about holing up with the Cuban native in Miami during the height of the pandemic.
“It was beautiful, truly so special,” the pop star told Rollacoaster magazine. “I often go back to look at photos and the simplicity of that time; we were lucky. It was nice.”
Cabello said came through on the other side with the help of switching up her exercise routine and diet.
“Definitely changing the way I schedule my time and making sure that there’s balance,” she said. “That I have time for friendships and connection with people and I’m not just nose to the grindstone, not paying attention to my body and my needs.”
Her last personal post was roughly a week ago, with a video of her performing at the White House for the holidays.
