They had a good, long run but it seems to be truly the end of the road for David “Big Papi” Ortiz and his wife.

On Instagram Monday, Tiffany Ortiz announced the split with a black and white picture of the two in happier days.

“Over the past 25 years, David and I have shared a beautiful adventure in love and partnership,” said the post.

“We have made the decision to go into a new phase of our life journey together, not as a couple, but as friends and co-parents to our amazing children.”

Tiffany (née Brick), 47, and the Boston Red Sox legend, 46, reportedly met at a bar in Wisconsin in 1996 when Big Papi was starting out in the minor leagues with the Seattle Mariners. Married in 2002, they share two children, D’Angelo, 15, and Alexandra, 20, and together run the David Ortiz Children’s Fund.

These two, who reside in Miami, hit a rough patch in their marriage before.

In 2013, Ortiz filed for divorce, telling MLB.com, “There are some situations in life that work out for a period of time and at some point they don’t work out anymore and you have to move on. I’m moving on. She’s moving on. Hopefully, everybody respects that.”

A year later, they couldn’t quite quit each other, and reconciled.

This time, Tiffany was the one pulling the trigger, as the petitioner.

According to Miami-Dade County court records, Tiffany filed for divorce back in December 2020, and the hefty docket shows the exes (well, their lawyers) have been working through finances and other issues for most of 2021. A new date to handle an unknown matter is set for January 2022.
