Blame it on the pandemic: Orianne Collins files for divorce from new husband

The saga continues.

Orianne Cevey Collins, who famously got married while still living under the same roof as her ex husband turned on again boyfriend, Phil Collins, is getting divorced.

On her official Instagram, Cevey said she was splitting from Tom Bates, the musician she eloped with to Las Vegas back in the summer of 2020.

The quickie marriage enraged Collins, since the newlyweds were living in the same Miami Beach home that he shared with Cevey. The Genesis rocker, 70, filed to have the mother of his two kids evicted while he was out of the country and a legal battle royale ensued.

Roughly a year on, the dust had settled slightly. Cevey and Bates moved to a new home in Fort Lauderdale; Collins’ North Bay Road mansion sold for $39.25 million and the music star went out on tour with Genesis.

Cevey continued with her jewelry business and just last month, Bates put on a concert in Miami’s Design District, playing tracks off his new album produced by Emilio Estefan. The 32 year old South Florida native posed on the red carpet with Cevey, 47; both were all smiles.

But on Thursday came Cevey’s bombshell divorce announcement: “I believe the emotional stress of the COVID quarantine caused me to act in ways and do things that were out of character,” explained the Swiss native. “Fortunately, I have faced challenging situations before and like I always have, I will muster all the strength I can, the best team I can find and the courage to do the right thing.”

Bates’ Instagram account has since been switched to private. A publicist for the musician did not immediately reply to the Miami Herald’s request for comment.
